These analysis of the world's opinions about the US elections fail to analyze the idea that what these polities desire is not necessarily what's best for the United States. Who would have the world wanted to win in 1980, Jimmy Carter or Ronald Reagan? Yes, it would be great if the world was pleased with the US president, but this should not supersede what is best for America. In various opinion polls, many of the world citizens are concerned about US power. In many ways this is very natural and should not be viewed as 'the US is abusing is strengths.' I believe the idea that Obama would use US hard power less is making him popular in the world, in other words, these people are not voting for Barack Obama, but for a weaker US, and I don't think that is good for the United States. What I'm trying to get at is complicated, and I'm sure I was a little confusing, but I think your posts' analysis's are missing a view like this. Americans have done a pretty decent job picking our own presidents as our nation has a record of growth, prosperity, and freedom that is the envy of the world.
